For years, before I was a photographer, I painted and designed layered artwork for my custom leather goods in photoshop. So,”arting” a photo as a concept wasn’t totally new to me. I had seen it done in surf and skate mags and on posters and t-shirts as a kid growing up and understood the layering effect, from early attempts at cartooning. However, It hadn’t really dawned on me to combine both myself as a photographer and an artist, until I had seen some of the work that @alexandravalenti was doing. By then, I had started to get a grasp of photography and was starting to take decent pictures. Her work really opened my eyes to the possibilities. I don’t know if she originally conceived the notion to art a photo (without prior influence)… But that doesn’t matter. She’s definitely one of the best and most stylized and aesthetically dialed artists, that I have seen doing it. I’m not the only one who agrees. Some of her clients are so big that they send my wife junk mail twice a month… and lomo photogs around the world are copying her style and her work to gain some sort of notoriety. Anyhow, in some effort to give credit where credit is due, and to still create an original work and be somewhat palatable (If that’s even at all possible)… I humbly offer this… Surf Lotus

Went out wake surfing w some buds and took my new Nikonos V to test it out. One of the color rolls was Fujichrome Velvia 100… It all came back in red, orange, yellow & magenta tones… I kinda dig it…

Just a little reminder to consider the social and economic value that our labor force has brought to this great country. So, while you’re planning you Labor Day celebrations, try to keep a little love in house and show your support and appreciation by buying and consuming product made right here in America. #elojophoto
